Precarpathians is paradise region of Ukraine got magic beauty of Dnester valleys and green mountain tops, where cold and pure Verkhovyna streams, noise of beech and spruce wood welcome by wonderful symphony sounding in a heart.

 

Ivano-Frankivsk Region by territory is comparative small, but by landscape features belongs to the most picturesque.

 

On the region's territory of 13,9 sq. km, (2% of Ukraine territory) almost 1,4 mln. residents live (about 3% of general of population in Ukraine). The population of administrative center of the region is 234 000 people.

 

The region has rich source base including 236 deposits of 23 minerals. The potassium ores, cement raw material, limestone for sugar industry, oil and natural gas has high level of specialization of mining industry.

 

The developed deposits of sulphate potassium-magnesium salts are considerable; by it supplies Ukraine enters top ten world countries. Thus the mineral composition of deposits enables to produce universal non-chlorous potassium-magnesium fertilizers.

The region is rich in supplies of many building mineral raw material (limestone, clay, marl and building stone) and has resource pre-conditions for rising share of production of building materials.

 

The area of regional forest fund makes 626 000 ha, including covered by forest planting – 569 000 ha.

 

The balance supplies of mineral waters makes 266 cube m a day. These are sodium chloride, sodium calcium, iodic bromine, sulphide, carbonate low mineralization and also mineral water without specific components.

 

Main task of the region is gradual growth of economy, improvement of development of basic industries.

 

Almost 1500 enterprises function in the industry, including over 1250 small. The products and services of these enterprises belong to 50 types of economic activity.

 

The program of social-economic development of the region «Ivano-Frankivsk Region – 2010» is a component of project of the Strategy of Economic and Social Development of Ukraine till year 2011.

 

The idea of sustainable development is put in basis of the project. The strategic purpose is sustainable growth of human welfare on the basis of rational use of present resource potential, creation of regional high-efficiency, socially oriented market economic system, favourable conditions for entrepreneurial activity, natural environment protection and providing of ecological safety.

 

One of the important factors is effective using of forests and wood resources.

 

Main result of sustainable development of the region and construction of market economy must be valuable and healthy man, improvement of his life, providing population social protection, health care, education and science, culture and art, physical training and sport, creation of favourable conditions for harmonization of national and inter-confessional relations in all spheres of vital functions.

 

Main task in the field of culture and art must be keeping of spiritual-intellectual potential, cultural inheritance and originality of region, support of gifted youth, improving of financial base of establishments of culture and equipping with modern technical facilities.

 

In the field of education and science it is necessary to provide guaranteeing of availability of education, saving, development and increase of regional intellectual potential.

 

One of the priority directions of Strategy of Regional Development is enterprise, small and medium business development.

 

The mechanism of financial providing is the key element of realization of this project. Its main function is attracting and rational use of financial-credit and investment resources.

 

Ivano-Frankivsk Region is an investment-attractive region. It has signed agreements about international cooperation with the separate regions of Slovakia, Poland, Georgia, Lithuania, Canada, Austria, Russian Federation, China and extends cooperation with the boundary regions of Poland, Slovakia, Hungary, Romania and Moldova.

 

The example of effective developing of investment resources is light and woodworking industry of the region. In 2007 it was commissioned the biggest and modern regional woodworking production of laminated shaving boards in the settlement Broshniv. And such enterprises as «Tykaferlux» and «Vinisin» one of the first developed projects in light industry are well-known abroad. Many enterprises of this industry have interesting investment proposals on modernization of production and introduction of the newest technologies.

 

One of the important sectors of regional economy is agriculture. Its share in the regional gross added value makes almost one fifth part.

 

The regional land fund makes 1 392 700 ha, including 633 800 ha of agricultural lands, out of them 375 000 ha of plough-land.

 

In agriculture and processing industry of the region there are also bright examples of successful realization of investments. Many enterprises for processing milk and producing of dairy products were reconstructed. The investment project on growing poultry in Snyatynsky district has been developed. Modern enterprise on growing commodity and pedigree pigs was founded in Rogatyn District. Realization of similar project began in Kalush District. Grain Processing Company «Yumas» Ltd created with participation of foreign investors achieves significant results in processing industry.

 

A row of investment proposals, in particular on production of sowing rape has been developed by Institute of Agroindustrial Production. Agricultural and processing enterprises offer many projects on growing and processing of vegetable and animal products to the investors.

 

The modern air-port of international level which can take airplanes of any class functions in the regional center. However, taking into account the necessity of permanent improvement of transport infrastructure, organization of new services they designed measures on airport development.

 

Without regard to problems in the communal economy, some of them are solved on the base of industrial potential existing in the region. In particular, OJSC «Avtolyvmash» can realize perspective projects on building of complexes for processing of solid domestic wastes. Many ecological problems caused by activity of powerful enterprises in Kalush and Burshtyn are settled.

 

Precarpathians is acknowledged priority region in development of tourist industry at government level. The region realizes program of tourism development for 2002–2010 which, except for general strategy, plans many concrete directions and measures in development of tourist infrastructure. Investment projects in tourism are annually offered in the International Investment Fair (Lviv) and Professional Forum of hoteliers and restaurateurs «Industry of hospitality» (Kyiv).

 

The region took part in Ukrainian-Polish Project «Tourist Potential of Western Ukraine» within Program «Polish-American-Ukrainian Initiative on Cooperation».

 

Today investors of the region are non-residents from 40 countries of the world. 400 joint ventures function here. Investments came from countries of European Union, in particular Poland, Germany, Denmark, France and Switzerland.

 

Many well-known resorts operate in the region. On the shore of the River Prut the city of Yaremeche with over 40 tourist objects is situated.

 

The township of Vorokhta is known as center of winter sports. Here is a complex with springboards, which due to artificial coverage, operate all the year around.

 

The city of Ivano-Frankivsk which history counts 3,5 century is the most cultural and economic center of the region. The region is proud of its cultural and historical inheritance – almost 3 500 sights of history and culture are under state guard on its territory.

 

Precarpathians land is glorified in Old Russian writing sights. There are five cities in the region mentioned in the Old Russian chronicles. Galych is the oldest one.

 

Today the regional guidance aims to bring spirituality and culture at high level, cares of increasing economic potential and satisfaction of social-cultural demands of regional residents.
