It is very important that Kyiv Region has highly-developed transport infrastructure in Ukraine: 8200 km of motor-car ways and highways of international value: Warsaw–Kyiv, Lviv– Moscow and Saint Petersbur –Odessa; rails connecting not only with all regions of Ukraine but also European and Asian countries; International Airport «Boryspil» providing regular flights in over 30 countries of the world and annually carrying almost 900 000 passengers.
Kyiv Region is one of the most industrially developed regions of Ukraine. Basis of regional industrial potential is almost 400 big and medium enterprises ensuring almost one half of incomes to the regional budget. Such leading enterprises have national value as Trypillya Thermal Power Plant; Brovary Plant of Powder Metallurgy; biggest in Europe Kyiv Cardboard-Paper Integrated Works (Obukhiv); OJSC «State Energy Generating Company «Centrenergo», and also known beyond Ukrainian boundary – producer of tires – CJSC «Rosava», power-shovels – OJSC «Boreks», chemical equipment – OJSC «Chervony Zhovten», asbestos technical wares – OJSC «Tribo», knitwear – VAT «Sofia» and other enterprises.
Most natural riches of Kyiv Region are fertile earths. The area of agricultural lands of picturesque territory makes 1,7 mln. ha or 4,2% of the general area of lands of Ukraine. The climatic conditions promote growing of overwhelming majority of agricultural crops in the region, in particular wheat, barley, maize, buckwheat, millet, and also sugar beets, flax, potato, vegetables, fruits and green crops. The regional farms breed cattle of milk and meat directions, pigs, poultry and develop sheep breeding.
An important role for life-support of the region and capital is played by such processing plants of agroindustrial complex as OJSC «Galakton», OJSC «Yagotyn Creamery», OJSC «Kyiv Meat Processing Plant», Firm «Polis», OJSC «Agrarnyk»; Chervonoslobidsky, Stadnitsky, Trypilsky and Tkhorivsky spirit factories; enterprises for producing consumer goods operating in every district of the region. They provide hundreds of agricultural firms using natural riches of Kyiv Region – black earths with raw material.
For providing effective use of natural resources the region performs active work on technical reconstruction of agroindustrial complex, increasing of production of vegetable products and fruits, creation of powerful food and processing industry on the basis of introducing new technologies and modern management.
Today almost 10 000 small enterprises supplying commodities and services to the consumer market operate in Kyiv Region. At the same time it provides not only development of market competition but also decline of unemployment and growth of incomes to the local budgets.
The executive authorities conduct active work in relation to expansion of infrastructure of small business support which consists of five business-centers, numerous information-consulting and financial-credit establishments, and also four business-incubators, including known in the world Bila Tserkva Innovation Business-Incubator that helped to start successful activity a few hundred new small enterprises.
The successive policy directed on development of mutually beneficial cooperation with regions of other countries of the world is performed in the district. They pay great attention to development of foreign relations and external economic activity. The priority feature is government course on European integration, and also intensification of international contacts proclaimed by Ukraine.
The regional companies perform foreign trade operations with partners from 125 countries of the world. 537 regional companies export commodities to 90 countries of the world. Most export deliveries are carried out to Russian Federation – 38,6%, Germany – 6,7%, Byelorussia – 6,0%, Kazakhstan – 5,0%, Turkey – 4,4%, Poland – 3,8%, Moldova – 3,7%, Georgia – 2,4% and Italy – 2,0%.
Basis of commodity structure of export is paper wares – 21,2%, rubber – 14,2%, fats and oils – 6,7%, aluminium wares – 5,8%, boilers, machines, vehicles and mechanical devices, – 5,7%, cotton wool wares – 4,9%, wood and wood wares – 4,7%, cloth – 2,7%, electric machines and equipment – 2,2%, different food products – 1,9%.
Most import incomes are provided by Russian Federation – 19,0%, Germany – 13,8%, France – 7,9%, Poland – 7,7%, China – 4,7%, Netherlands – 4,2%, USA – 3,7%, Italy – 3,6%, Finland – 3,1% and Japan – 3,0%.
Basis of import incomes is oil and oil products of its refining, boilers, machines, vehicles and mechanical devices, polymeric materials, plastics and plastic wares, paper and cardboard, electric machines and equipment, pharmaceutical products.
Introduction of positive attitude toward healthy risk and successes is a business of the society and above all things local communities and separate persons.
Taking it into account the regional council put such tasks for development of business and enterprise potential in Kyiv Region as deepening of regulation reform and creation of the system of legal protection of businessmen including providing of equality of rights in entrepreneurial activity to the enterprises of all forms of property, legal regulation of order of realization of control of entrepreneurial activity by supervisory structures, protecting of enterprise from pressure, introduction of disciplinary and administrative responsibility of state authorities for establishing regulation procedures.
By volumes of foreign investments Kyiv Region takes one of the leading places among regions of Ukraine. From the beginning of 2007 the regional economy got USD 813,8 mln. from 57 countries of the world, or 5,7% of the general volume of investments in Ukraine. 309 regional companies and their partners from 53 countries of the world participate in international investment cooperation. In the structure of direct foreign investments, most share belongs to Netherlands – 42,5%, Great Britain – 15,8, United States of America – 7,3, Cyprus – 5,4, Poland – 4,7, Denmark – 3,8, Germany – 3,5 and Panama – 2,5%. Considerable share of foreign investments is directed in industry – 62,1%; agriculture; hunting and forestry – 16,9%; wholesale and retail trade – 9,2%; construction – 3,9%; transport – 3,2%.
Main direction of investment policy of the Kyiv Regional State Administration is creation of favourable conditions for development of business, subsequent improvement of investment climate, assistance to subjects of management activity in realization of economic and socially important investment projects with attraction of all sources of financial resources.
For realization of such projects there are all necessary pre-conditions in the region: rich natural resources, highly skilled labour forces, modern network of electronic communications, powerful consumer market of the capital, reliable commercial and financial-credit system covering 74 branches of commercial banks, three commodity exchanges, nine leasing companies and 17 credit associations.
Subsequent development of industrial complex of Kyiv Region must become the stage in creation of new productions and reconstruction of existent which can realize high-tech and provide output of competitive products of world level.
Today extraordinary beauty of this land and hospitality of community attract not only businessmen but also plenty of tourists expecting unforgettable impressions.
